    Program Overview

    This 12-month fellowship provides specialized knowledge and hands-on experience in managing congenital and acquired deformities in pediatric patients. It covers reconstructive, craniofacial, cleft, and microsurgical procedures in children. The course blends didactic learning with operative exposure, case discussions, and research projects.

    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Principles of Pediatric Plastic Surgery

    • Growth and development of pediatric tissues

    • Pediatric wound healing and scar biology

    • Preoperative planning and anesthesia in children

    • Ethics and consent in pediatric plastic surgery

    Module 2: Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery

    • Embryology and classification of cleft anomalies

    • Surgical techniques: Millard, Tennison-Randall, Furlow palatoplasty

    • Timing and staging of cleft repairs

    • Postoperative speech, hearing, and dental management

    Module 3: Craniofacial Anomalies

    • Craniosynostosis: classification and management

    • Syndromic craniofacial disorders (Apert, Crouzon, etc.)

    • Frontoorbital advancement and distraction osteogenesis

    • Multidisciplinary craniofacial team approach

    Module 4: Congenital Hand Anomalies

    • Classification and embryology of congenital hand defects

    • Polydactyly, syndactyly, and radial club hand

    • Tendon transfers and microsurgical reconstruction

    • Functional assessment and rehabilitation

    Module 5: Ear and Nose Reconstruction

    • Microtia: classification and staged reconstruction techniques

    • Rib graft and Medpor ear reconstruction

    • Nasal deformities and septal reconstruction

    • Post-burn and traumatic ear/nose defects

    Module 6: Pediatric Burn Management

    • Assessment of burn depth and extent

    • Acute burn resuscitation and care

    • Skin grafting, flaps, and contracture release

    • Long-term scar management and reconstructive strategies

    Module 7: Genitourinary and Anorectal Anomalies

    • Hypospadias: types and surgical repair techniques

    • Cloacal and anorectal malformations

    • Tissue engineering and staged reconstruction

    • Postoperative care and continence outcomes

    Module 8: Pediatric Tumor Resection and Reconstruction

    • Soft tissue tumors and neurofibromatosis

    Clinical Training and Hands-On Experience
